Because it is summer, the children's school holiday season and the holiday season for many people, European road conditions are crowded everywhere. Luckily we never got into a bad traffic jam. Palaing was stuck at the border for a long time, because this green passport is very special. Once checked, it took a long time. Not infrequently this is accompanied by filling out several forms. But, thank God, I can still travel to new and exotic countries in Eastern Europe. In different countries, a distance of only a few kilometers, has also changed human behavior. Really unique and very interesting.
We visited 4 cities: Shkoder, Tirana, Dürres, Berat. Actually, we have wanted to come here for a long time. Since Mother learned that Schengen visa holders can enter Albania without a visa. However, it is a bit difficult to find low-priced tickets to this country. Except, flying to Italy first, after that, continued by plane Italy. Because the tickets are bought separately, take a different airline. Which means we have to get out, then check in again on the next plane. Alright. When we failed to go home because we couldn't get cheap tickets, we decided to go back to the Balkans.
From Germany, we measured the road. Through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, for days, camping or staying in an apartment, we entered northern Albania. We had time to stop by Ulcinj, the last major city in Montenegro which is inhabited by a large Muslim population. Many restaurants read hallah and we saw several mosques. The city center is very busy and a bit chaotic with traffic. Looking for parking is difficult. We didn't decide to park. But looking for an area called Ulcinj Salina. A swampy area with brackish water, which is said to be visited by many flamingos every year. Until there, no Flamingo. They come before winter around November. Olala, no sustenance. Yo wes we cross directly to Albania only.
In summer, the road to the border is quite busy. Mother remembers many Swiss police cars strolling the streets. The cars are cool and they usually like to overtake. It looks like Albanians live in Switzerland on their way home. The car's luggage looks full. It's really fun to go home between countries using a car. Can bring souvenirs by car.
Following a winding road and up and down, we arrive at the border between Montenegro and Albania. The queue is quite long. Who knows how many dozen cars in front. Green passport holders like us are used to queuing a little longer. Even more than an hour on the border of the Balkans and Eastern European countries. Sometimes our car is told to move aside first. Then it was screened specifically. We are special.
Usually the border has two offices. First, the state border office that wants to be left behind, how many tens or even kilometers later, there will be a state border office that you want to enter. In our case now, we thought, we would stamp the passport out of Montenegro, then stamp on the Albanian passport. Lha on this one border is different. There is only one office. The business is fast too. Until we were dumbfounded. Really this is done. We think we will still meet the Albanian border office. But our car goes through the streets and the village atmosphere is different. And never see the border office again. Fix we have entered Albania.
